The Dhund, an ephemeral river along its subsidiary drainage system forms a N-S elongated river basin in the Semi-Desert terrain of Jaipur District. The groundwater occurring in the aquifer zones of granite gneisses quartzites and alluvial formations is dwindling due to excessive mining of groundwater during the last one decide.In spite of high rainfall from 1989 to 1996 the declining trend of water levels are not reversed in major part of the area The falling water table can only be checked by proper groundwater management.

Three quarter of the neonatal deaths happens in the first week only and the initial 24 hours itself take a toll of 25% to 45% of deaths. The Studies conducted in the South East Asia Regions has shown the impact of home visits by skilled workers and it has reduced deaths of newborns by 30 to 61%. Home visits by a skilled health worker immediately after birth is a health strategy that can increase newborn survival rates. The present cross sectional survey was done among the 54 ASHAs of the Kurali Block of district Faridabad of Haryana. All the ASHAs were assessed on the basis of their skills and knowledge about the component of Home Based Post Natal Care (HBPNC). Conclusions and recommendations:All the ASHAs were well versed with the vital issues in postnatal care. There is still gap m the skills required for proper HBPNC. There is need of continuous on the job training for the Home Based Post Natal Care.Keywords

In this paper a scheme called joint data hiding and shrinking(compression) is proposed for digital images using SMVQ(side match vector quantization).both the methods of hiding text and shrinking of image is united into a individual module. On the client side, the information is hided and shrinked in sub codebook, excluding the top most and left most blocks the remaining blocks are used to embed data and compress image, vector quantization is used along with SMVQ for complicated blocks. Now on the server side the receiver receives the image and the image is divided into multiple blocks and the receiver extracts hided data and after decompression reconstructs the original image according to the value of the index in segmented section. This proposed scheme has given a high performance in terms of hiding information, compression and decompression of digital images.

Delineation of flood vulnerable zones mapping were conducted to identify the priority areas and high risk zones in the flood plains of Ghaggar River in Fatehabad district. Remote Sensing and GIS provides more flexible and accurate decisions to the decision makers in order to evaluate the effective factors. Fatehabad District situated in western part of Haryana has an area of 2538 sq. km. geographically it falls between 2915' to 2949' North latitude and 7513' to 7558' East longitude. The total area of Fatehabad District is 2538 km2.IRS-P6LISS-III(Oct, 2009) data has been used in the study. A digital Elevation Model (DEM) method has been used to analyze the flood vulnerable zones. Out of thetotal area of Fatehabad District, 44.28 sq. km area is under highly vulnerable zone, 475.62 sq. km area is under moderate vulnerable zone and 1935.36 sq km area is under the safe zone. Flood disaster has a very special place in natural hazards. Its effect area is not bounded; it is an unusual event of a river basin. Some of the causative factors for flooding in watershed are taken into account as annual rainfall, size of watershed, slope, drainage density and land use. Digital elevation model (DEM) is useful in delineating the vulnerable zones. Flood vulnerable zones of Fatehabad District maps have been generated with a view to assisting decision makers on the menace posed by the disaster.Keywords

Mining operation exerts long lasting effects on the ecosystem and environment. The key impact includes deforestation, degeneration and degradation of natural resources, environmental pollution, health risk, ecological and socio-ecological instabilities. The magnitude of impact depends on the methods, scale and mining activity concentration, technological interventions etc. The study was carried out in three plantation sites to evaluate the floristic structure, composition, diversity and litter biomass. In different sites a total of 4 tree species, 5 sapling species, 18 seedling species and 7 shrub species were found. A total of 440 trees ha-1 were encountered in eucalyptus plantation, 480 trees ha-1 in teak plantation and 960 trees ha-1 in mixed plantation. The total density of saplings, seedlings and shrubs ranged from 60-860 saplings ha-1, 2400-8960 seedlings ha-1 and 240-960 shrubs ha-1, respectively, across the sites. The total litter biomass varied from 1.98-4.01 t ha-1, being lowest at teak plantation and highest under eucalyptus plantation. The mining activities resulted in an appreciable damage to natural vegetation and its dynamics. A long term strategy is essential for restoration and conservation of the fragile ecosystem of collieries.Keywords

Noise is an occupational hazard affecting the health and safety of the tractor drivers. The hearing impairment of Indian tractor drivers has been assessed in the present study. Sixty healthy male subjects of similar age, height and weight were selected and divided into two groups of 30 subjects each, viz. tractor drivers with more than 10 years of driving experience and office workers as control. Audiometric testing of both the ears of the selected subjects was conducted at ten frequencies, i.e. 0.125, 0.25, 0.5, 1, 1.5, 2, 3, 4, 6 and 8 kHz. It was observed that the hearing threshold levels of office workers at measured test frequencies were less than 25 dB(A) and exceeded 25 dB(A) for tractor drivers to cause hearing handicap. Statistical analysis of the data indicated significant difference in the audiometric profile of tractor drivers compared to the office workers. The estimated average excess risk of hearing impairment of the subjects was calculated from audiometric data using five standard models; it was 0.2% and 7.1% for office workers and tractor drivers respectively. Thus it can be concluded that tractor driving significantly increased the hearing threshold levels of the drivers compared to office workers.Keywords

Teaching-Learning-Based Optimization (TLBO) is a newly and advance meta-heuristic optimization method adopted in this paper for optimizing a set of design and operating parameters for solar air heater. In this paper an attempt has been done to optimize the thermal performance of solar air heater with smooth flat plate and with artificially roughness by considering the different operating parameters. Thermal performance is obtained for different values of Reynolds number, Relative roughness pitch, Relative roughness height, Relative groove position and chamfered angle by using Teaching Learning base optimization algorithm. The result obtained from TLBO is more effective and efficient than the other optimization techniques which are consider for mechanical design optimization problems. The final results obtained from this algorithm are compared with experimental results and found to be satisfactory as far as flexibility, convergence rate and computational effort.Keywords

The Indian Government imposed a full lockdown in the country on March 24, 2020, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, it had considerable unforeseen consequences for farmers and affected their livelihood security.The present study attempts to assess the livelihood vulnerability to COVID-19 by using field survey data of two villages in Mathura district of Uttar Pradesh. An in-depth field survey was conducted to elicit the information of household’s perceptions of COVID-19. By using the multistage sampling technique, a total of 150 samples were collected from May 15 to 30, 2020. The study results highlight that households are highly exposed to novel coronavirus and are also equally sensitive to inadequate access to clean water, sanitation and healthcare system. Households undertook a range of preventive measures including health insurance, balanced diet, stored food items, consultation with doctors, and self-quarantine to contain the serious adverse impact of COVID-19. The calculated livelihood vulnerability scores show that the households in Virjapur village are relatively highly vulnerable than those of other villages. Based on the evidence collected at the grassroots level, the present study suggests launching basic-level awareness programme (ex-ante preventive measures) in the regional languages, increasing public health budget to meet the demand and improving the supply chain, establishment of more physical and human infrastructure in the long run and developing a comprehensive plan to ensure continuous water supply in the rural areas.Keywords
